Last week, Concrete customers headed to Chax Barbers in Cobridge for a free haircut.
The barbershop wanted to do something to help men and women impacted by homelessness in the run up to Christmas.
Customer Claire was one of the customers receiving a free haircut from hairdressers at the barbershop. She decided to go for a stylish bob after not having her hair cut for a year.
Claire has been supported by Concrete for the past three months. She’s due to move on to her own home very soon.
She said that she has struggled with low confidence, but the haircut made her feel ‘like a million dollars’.
Claire said: “I really appreciate what these guys have done for me – it’s so kind. The cut is absolutely brilliant. I wanted a bob and it looks amazing.
“My hair was really long before. I hadn’t had it cut for about a year so it was long overdue.
“This haircut will really boost my confidence and I’m just over the moon to have been given this opportunity. I feel like a million dollars.”
Owner of Chax Barbers, Leeroy Chakanyuka, said: “It’s important for us to do something like this. This is the time of the year when it’s good to give back to other people.
“We’re trying to give some confidence back to people through the haircuts and prepare everyone for Christmas and the New Year.”
