We’ve secured almost £58k of government funding to help us continue to support those without a plan, without a voice and without a home.

The £57,975 is part of the government’s £6 million fund given out to 132 homeless charities across England to support hundreds of homeless people during the COVID-19 pandemic.

This vital funding will help Concrete continue the work we are doing to make homelessness history and fund the extra demand brought by the virus.

Concrete is a part of Honeycomb Group, a group of brands dedicated to building a progressive region with no barriers to a happy home.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, we’ve supported over 450 people across North Staffordshire and Cheshire East affected by homelessness into safe accommodation, including working with Holiday Inn to provide hotel rooms to help people self-isolate. We’ve also provided thousands of meals to customers in the community, essential items, such as medication, toiletries and mobile phones as well as help and advice.

Diane Thompson, Chief Executive at Honeycomb Group, said: “We are delighted for all of the local charities receiving this funding to tackle local homelessness issues. At Concrete our mission is to make homelessness history by going beyond the streets and into neighbourhoods, the homes and the heart of the community to make stable, secure housing a right. This funding is a lifeline for us during this challenging time.”

Homelessness minister Luke Hall said: “The staggering effort between councils and charities across the country has ensured that over 90 per cent of rough sleepers known to councils at the start of the pandemic have been offered safe accommodation. This work has helped to protect thousands of lives.

“This money will help charities continue to support these people and ensure they are getting everything they need to prevent them from returning to a life on the streets so they can rebuild their lives once and for all.”
